Stay-Dry Roofing, first established in 1973, was a family run business specializing in felt and
asphalt roofing. After years in the industry, it became the main contractor for Plymouth City Council and expanded its expertise into slating and tiling. Over the years, Stay-Dry has become the go-to roofing company in Plymouth, with its customers including Plymouth Community Homes, Plymouth Hospitals Trust, Western Power and Cornwall Housing to name a few. Its current Director, Sarah Gould, was employed back in 1995 as a secretary and gradually worked her way through to running the Company with the then owner.
When early retirement knocked on his door, Sarah decided to find a business partner and buy the company.
In September 2018, Stay-Dry Roofing (SW) Ltd was formed by Sarah Gould and Chris Egglestone. Specializing in felt roofing, lead, slate roofing, tile roofing, fascia and guttering already, Chris has brought a wealth of expertise to Stay-Dry Roofing. In this partnership, Stay-Dry is now able to offer cladding services with Chris’ 30-year cladding experience and enviable reputation within the Southwest region. Just last year, Chris completed major cladding projects at Cornish Schools and HMS Vivid in the Dockyard.
Due to the workload, Stay-Dry has also employed Steve Hopkin as its new surveyor. Steve started his career with Stay-Dry last year, having worked with DFR Roofing for over 20 years. Steve specializes in slate and tile work and is keen to grow these services. All our roofers are trained in working with non-licenced asbestos, first aid, manual handling, working at heights and abrasive wheels. They all hold CSCS cards, and some even hold SSSTS. We have several roofers with their NVQ level 2 and more working towards completing this. Stay-Dry is accredited with Safe Contractor, CHAS and are members of the Confederation of Roofing Contractors. We currently work with Garland for felt and Cladding projects and have recently trained some of our men to use a single ply system. Several tiled roofing projects have also been completed for Redland and Marley. Sarah and Chris have worked tirelessly to build Stay-Dry Roofing into what it is today.
